RankForge Database Configuration – JSON, SQLite, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB

RankForge supports 6 storage backends, configured via database.type in config.yml.

Type Nature Best For
JSON Local flat-file (players.json) Single servers, plug-and-play zero configuration (default)
SQLITE Local relational file (rankforge.db) Single servers desiring a single relational file
MYSQL Remote SQL Multi-server networks with shared rankings
MARIADB Remote SQL MariaDB-based server networks
POSTGRESQL Remote SQL Enterprise or clustered cloud infrastructures
MONGODB NoSQL document-based Cloud setups or document architectures

No additional settings required. Data is stored atomically in plugins/RankForge/players.json.

database:
type: "JSON"

If a remote database loses connection or encounters an initialization error, RankForge logs a warning and automatically falls back to local JSON storage. This guarantees player stats are never lost and your Minecraft server will never crash due to database outages.
